Hlíðaskóli held outdoor

activity days Sept. 9 and 10, replacing the regular

schedule with fun activities in the school's

local

area.

On Tuesday, Sept. 9, students participated in various outdoor and nature-based activities. Most grade levels visited Öskjuhlíð, where they explored bird life, the local environment, and Reykjavík's history. Activities included a scavenger hunt themed around war monuments and other historic sites. Other grade levels walked to Laugardalur and participated in activities about Reykjavík's economic history.On Wednesday, Sept. 10, the school held a friendship day where students were placed in mixed-age groups. Students participated in various games set up on the school grounds. Games included jump rope, wall-ball straddle hop and other classic group activities that appeal to both younger and older students. The weather was perfect and students had a great time.Both days ended with a hot dog barbecue, where students and staff enjoyed grilled hot dogs and the good weather together.
