Outdoor activity days Sept. 9 and 10
Hlíðaskóli held outdoor activity days Sept. 9 and 10, replacing the regular schedule with fun activities in the school's local area.
On Tuesday, Sept. 9, students participated in various outdoor and nature-based activities. Most grade levels visited Öskjuhlíð, where they explored bird life, the local environment, and Reykjavík's history. Activities included a scavenger hunt themed around war monuments and other historic sites. Other grade levels walked to Laugardalur and participated in activities about Reykjavík's economic history.
On Wednesday, Sept. 10, the school held a friendship day where students were placed in mixed-age groups. Students participated in various games set up on the school grounds. Games included jump rope, wall-ball straddle hop and other classic group activities that appeal to both younger and older students. The weather was perfect and students had a great time.
Both days ended with a hot dog barbecue, where students and staff enjoyed grilled hot dogs and the good weather together.
